Rise in COVID cases stoke concerns over fourth wave in Pakistan
Islamabad: Pakistan has reported a steep rise in daily coronavirus cases amid fears of fourth wave.
According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 2,545 cases of coronavirus were reported while 47 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 22,689.
The total number of confirmed cases reached to 981,392.
As many as 916,373 patients have recovered from the disease with 2,258 critical cases.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 349,111 in the province with 10,852 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 351,006 in the province, while the death toll has reached 5,647.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 139,960 in the province with 4,377 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 28,588 confirmed cases while 317 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 21,481 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 596. On the other hand, there are 7,163 cases in GB with 113 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 84,083 cases in the capital city while 787 people have lost their lives.
