Karachi: As Pakistan grapples with an intense heatwave, Karachi is set to experience a sharp rise in temperatures starting today, with the mercury expected to reach 40°C, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Humidity and weak sea breeze are expected to make conditions feel even hotter, with the perceived temperature climbing as high as 45°C in coastal areas. The PMD reports strong sunshine and minimal wind activity during the day, adding to the discomfort for city residents.
Currently, westerly winds are blowing at a speed of 17 kilometres per hour, while humidity levels remain high at 74%. The weather is predicted to stay extremely hot and humid over the next 24 hours, with no immediate relief in sight.
Health experts also recommend staying hydrated, avoiding direct sun exposure, and keeping cool to prevent heat exhaustion or heatstroke.
