Five reserved seats for women from KP have been restored in National Assembly


Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Wednesday issued a notification for the restoration of reserved seats after the Supreme Court’s decision.
According to the Election Commission, five reserved seats for women from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been restored in the National Assembly, and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) got two seats each in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while the Jamat-e-Ulema Islam Fazl (JUI-F) got one seat.
11 reserved seats for women have been restored in the National Assembly from Punjab, out of which 10 seats have been allotted to the PML-N and one to the PPP.
According to the Election Commission, 3 seats for minorities have also been restored in the National Assembly, which have been distributed among PML-N, PPP, and the JUI-F.
In addition, 21 reserved seats for women have been restored in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, of which JUI got 8, PML-N 6, and PPP got 5 seats, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentarians and Awami National Party (ANP) have also got one reserved seat each.
According to the Election Commission, four minority seats have also been restored in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, of which JUI has got 2, PML-N and PPP have got one minority seat each.
24 reserved seats for women have been restored in the Punjab Assembly, of which 21 seats have been given to PML-N, one to PPP, one to Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), and one to Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).
According to the Election Commission, three minority seats have been restored in the Punjab Assembly, of which the (N) League has got 2 minority seats and the PPP has got one seat, while 2 reserved seats for women have been restored in the Sindh Assembly, of which one women's seat has been given to the PPP and one to the MQM.
The Election Commission has withdrawn the notification declaring the successful candidates on general seats as candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). These candidates had won general seats from the National Assembly, the Punjab Assembly, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and the Sindh Assembly.
