Twitter unveils new feature, enables star users earn money from subscriptions
San Francisco: The micro-blogging site, Twitter has launched a new feature named ‘Super follow’ that lets creators sell subscriptions for access to exclusive or special content.

Influencers such as makeup artists or sports experts will be able to offer their subscribers “behind the scene” content, early access, or other features for a fee of $3-$10 monthly.
Twitter’s product manager, Esther Crawford in a blog post said, “With Super Followers, people can create an extra level of interaction on Twitter to authentically interact with their most engaged followers – all while earning money“.
“Creating Super Followers content is for anyone who brings their unique approach and personality to twitter to drive the public conversation”.
As per reports, the list of star users includes activists, journalists, musicians, writers, gamers, astrology enthusiasts, beauty experts, comedians and more.
Twitter was testing the Super Followers feature, and said it has officially launched in North America with a small group of creators.
In the coming weeks, the option to follow participating creators will be available for people using Twitter on Apple devices.
The feature will then eventually be accessible to smartphones powered by Android software, as well as via the browser on the twitter.com website.
In addition, twitter will charge no more than 3% of subscriptions as transaction fees until a creator rakes in $50,000 on the platform.
Twitter recently added ways for popular users to collect gratuities with a “tip jar” feature, or make money from online events held in a “ticketed location.”
The move comes as the microblogging site trying to become a preferred online destination for clickable stars and boost its income in a way that doesn’t clutter the platform with ads or promotions.
