Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives due to the devastating earthquake in Balochistan.

In a post on Twitter, the leader of opposition in National Assembly (NA) wrote, “Sad over the loss of precious lives due to earthquake in Balochistan last night”.
He further added, “My profound condolences and prayers go out to the affected families”.
The PML-N leader urged the concerned authorities to take practical steps to help those affected by the earthquake.
“The authorities must act on war footing to rehabilitate those affected by this disaster,” he said.

At least 20 people were killed while over 300 others sustained injuries after an earthquake of 5.9 magnitude hit Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province early Thursday morning (today).
The earthquake was centred near the province's Harnai district and had a depth of 15 kilometres and had a longitude of 67.96 East and a latitude of 30.08 North.
Tremors were felt in Quetta, Sibbi, Pishin, Muslim Bagh, Ziarat, Qila Abdullah, Sanjavi, Zhob and Chaman, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said in its initial report.
According to PDMA, most of the deceased are women and children.
