Islamabad: Pakistan has witnessed a significant drop in the daily coronavirus death count after over a month hike, health department’s data showed Monday morning.
According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 856 persons were tested positive while 5 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 30,178.
Pakistan imposed new restrictions to curb the fast-spreading Omicron variant, hence, the positivity rate now stands at 2.56%. While, the cumulative tally of the country has now climbed to 1,509,360.
As many as 1,443,284 patients have recovered from the disease.
Punjab
The number of patients swelled to 501,370 in the province with 13,498 causalities.
Sindh
The number of infections has surged to 567,761 in the province, while the death toll has reached 8,067.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The confirmed cases have surged to 216,119 in the province with 6,248 casualties.
Balochistan
There are 35,326 confirmed cases while 375 patients have died from the infection so far.
AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
There are 42,968 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 787. On the other hand, there are 11,480 cases in GB with 190 coronavirus deaths.
Islamabad
There are 134,336 cases in the capital city while 1,013 people have lost their lives.
