OGRA had earlier recommended a slight decrease in prices of petrol and diesel


Lahore: The government has decided to keep the petroleum prices unchanged for the next two weeks. The decision was announced by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday while dismissing the reports of possible decrease in the fuel prices. Earlier, there were speculations that the government is likely to announce massive relief for public in petroleum prices.
According to Ishaq Dar, the decision to maintain the prices was taken keeping in view the international rates. He further added that the government has already provided ample relief to the public by decreasing the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 20 and Rs 35 respectively during last one month. Earlier, it was recommended by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to decrease the petroleum prices slightly but the government decided to keep the prices unchanged. After the announcement of Dar, the price of petrol will remain unchanged at Rs262 while diesel price per liter will be Rs253.
