Rizwana torture case: Petition filed to dismiss Judge Asim Hafeez

Islamabad: A petition has been filed in Islamabad High Court (IHC) to dismiss civil judge Asim Hafeez, who was nominated in the case of violence against young housekeeper Rizwana.

According to details, civil judge Asim Hafeez has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

The petition for dismissal of the judge has been filed by the President of Civil Society Network Islamabad, Abdullah Malik.

Chief Justice of IHC Aamer Farooq will hear the appeal for dismissal of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez today (Wednesday).

Asim Hafeez's wife Somia is on judicial remand on the charge of torture young housemaid, while Lahore High Court (LHC) has made Civil Judge Asim Hafeez OSD in the related case.

Despite being called five times by Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to investigate the case of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez, the investigation has not yet been conducted and he is of the opinion that he will not appear before the JIT until the written orders of LHC are received.
