Team of IMF experts reaches Pakistan
It is reported that the delegation of technical experts will consult the Pakistani authorities on the tax policy for about a week.
Islamabad: The team of International Monetary Fund (IMF) experts has reached Pakistan who will meet the officials of Ministry of Finance.
According to media reports, IMF experts will also meet with officials of Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) from today. They will consult to increase tax revenue and tax net.
It is reported that the delegation of technical experts will consult the Pakistani authorities on the tax policy for about a week. The FBR and IMF technical delegation will take steps to amend the tax policy.
According to FBR, the purpose of the amendments in the tax policy is to widen the tax net and the purpose of consulting experts will be to collect more tax.
The infrastructure of the scheme for retailers will also be built along with technical delegation, bringing one million more people into the tax net that will take the number of taxpayers to six million.
Media reports stated that amendments in the tax policy will be prepared together with the technical delegation. The tax amendments prepared will be implemented in the next budget. The technical delegation will assist in improving the tax policy and enforcement.
A team of IMF experts will stay in Pakistan for a week. It has nothing to do with the current loan program and its tranche.
