Now make free video calls on Microsoft teams
Microsoft has launched an additional version of its communication app, Microsoft Teams for use among friends and family for all-day free video calls.
Earlier, Zoom and Google Meet also ended their paid video conference feature and made it free for the users.
Free software of Microsoft Teams will come with new features such as; Office 365 subscriptions, video calls, group chats and tools.
The service offers the users one-on-one free video calls with up to 300 people.
According to Microsoft, the duration and number of free group calls will be reduced to 100 people per hour.
Microsoft Teams will also offer Together Mode, in which users will be able to share their backgrounds during video calls.
However, Microsoft is yet to announce plans to replace Skype with Teams for the consumers.
Microsoft Teams was introduced to business centres only, but it is now available to the general public to compete with Zoom and Google Meet.
Microsoft's free software is available on the desktop app and web browsers, while Android and iOS apps have also been released.
Driven by online work and learning amid the ongoing pandemic, Microsoft Teams now have 145 million daily active users globally, almost double the number a year ago, according to the company's CEO.
The company has added more than 300 features in Teams over the past year, including more than 100 new capabilities so far in 2021.
