First session of Punjab Assembly after elections 2024 today

Lahore: The phase of power transfer has started in Punjab as the first session of the Punjab Assembly after the general elections 2024 will be held today (Friday).

According to the details, the meeting was called at 10:00am under the chairmanship of Speaker Sabtain Khan. The newly elected members will take oath in the meeting today who members have started arriving to participate in the meeting.

Strict security measures have been observed for the first session of the Punjab Assembly. The nominated candidate of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz by Pakistan Muslim League-nawaz (PML-N) has also left from her residence Jati Umrah located in Lahore to attend the session in the assembly. It should be noted the Maryam Nawaz will be the first female Chief Minister of Punjab.

More than 3000 police personnel are performing duty in the premises of the Punjab Assembly. It is pertinent to note that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to protest during the session today following the alleged rigging in the general elections 2024.
