Controversial post: Omar seeks Hamoodur Rehman Commission report from FIA

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub while replying to the notice on the issue of Imran Khan's controversial video post, asked the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for a copy of the Hamood-ur-Rehman Commission report.

Omar Ayub Khan sent a written reply to the FIA notice stating that the FIA has sent a defamatory notice asking vague, dubious and illegal questions. The notice is related to the events related to the fall of Dhaka on which the government has set up a commission. The Commission submitted interim report in 1972 and complete in 1974.

It was stated in the answer that Hamood Commission report was neither rejected nor denied the contents. The commission recorded the statements of General Yahya Khan and General Amir Abdullah Niazi.

Secretary General PTI in response said that FIA is neither a department of historians nor an institution above the courts, the purpose of the notice is to target the founder PTI and party secretary general as a target of revenge.

In the written reply, it is further stated that they will exercise the right to raise the issue of propaganda made through the notice in Parliament and challenge the notice before the court.

In his reply, Omar Ayub said that the Hamood-ur-Rehman Commission report is available in the Cabinet Division and FIA should provide its copy to prepare the reply.
