Ban proposed on abroad travel of non-filers
FBR Chairman said that those who do not submit tax returns will not be able to travel abroad
Islamabad: The federal government proposed a ban on international travel of non-filers.
Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Malik Amjad Zubair Towana said in a press conference in Islamabad that those who do not submit tax returns will not be able to travel abroad.
Zubair Towana stated that they are seeking details from the power division in which house the electricity meter is registered in whose name. In some cases, the house and the power meters are registered in different names.
Chairman FBR added that the tax collections are being increased by more than 3800 billion rupees. The taxes of Rs1800 billion will be collected through policy and enforcement.
Zubair Tawana further said that the tax exemption of 400 to 450 billion rupees has been abolished. The tax exemption of 150 billion rupees has been abolished in the form of customs duty. The tax burden of 750 billion rupees has been put on the salaried class. The tax burden on the non-salaried class will be 150 billion rupees.
He also stated that five percent excise duty has been imposed on immovable property. The excise duty has also been imposed on plots and commercial properties.
Chairman FBR said that exports are being brought under normal tax regime. The rate of withholding tax on retailers has been increased.
