Imran Khan will take part in online elections of Oxford University despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison


London: Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former Prime Minister Imran Khan will contest the elections for Chancellor of the University of Oxford while being imprisoned in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi.
According to the British news agency, Imran Khan will take part in the online elections of Oxford University despite being sentenced to 10 years in prison. This is the first time that the chancellor election will be held online instead of the traditional method.
According to the report, the seat of chancellor of Oxford University became vacant after the resignation of Lord Peyton, the former governor of Hong Kong who held the position for 21 years.
The report stated that former British prime ministers Sir Tony Blair and Boris Johnson are among the candidates of the university for the chancellor's seat. Oxford University graduates will have the opportunity to contest elections. Generally, politicians are given a chancellorship seat.
On this matter, Imran Khan's advisor Zulfi Bukhari told foreign media that Imran Khan will contest the election for the chancellorship of Oxford University because there is a public demand that he must contest it.
Zulfi Bukhari said that he will soon announce it publicly. When they will get approval from Imran Khan, they will start the signature campaign for it.
It is pertinent to note that Imran Khan has been a part of Oxford University as a student where he studied economics and politics from Keble College Oxford in 1972. In addition, Imran Khan has been elected Chancellor of Bradford University in 2005.
