Bangladesh NTMC DG Major Gen Ziaul Ahsan dismissed from service
Major reshuffles and transfers have also been made in Bangladesh Army day after departure of former PM Sheikh Hasina Wazed
Dhaka: Major General Ziaul Ahsan has been dismissed from his position, said Bangladesh's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Tuesday.
Major General Ziaul Ahsan was the Director General of the National Telecommunication Monitoring Center (NTMC), an agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The NTMC was responsible for monitoring national situations, collecting data and recording communication materials.
The agency was also responsible to monitor emails, social media accounts and record phone calls.
According to Bangladeshi ISPR, Lieutenant General Saif ul Alam has been appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs while Lieutenant General Mujeebur Rahman will head the Army Training and Doctrine Command.
The Bangladesh Army's Public Relations Department has announced that Major General Ridwan Rahman will take over as the DG of NTMC.
Following the student protests, Sheikh Hasina fled the country in a military helicopter to India yesterday after which the Army Chief announced formation of an interim government.
As per the presidential orders issued on Monday, Opposition Leader Khaleda Zia has been released from jail on Tuesday (today), but normal life in Bangladesh remained disrupted.
