Qatar Airways Delhi-Doha flight diverted to Karachi due to 'smoke' in cargo hold; passengers complain


Karachi: A Qatar Airways Delhi-Doha passenger plane— flight QR579— has made an emergency landing in Karachi on Monday after it was diverted owing to indication of smoke in the cargo hold.
As per reports, the plane landed safely in Karachi where it was met by emergency services, and passengers disembarked it in an orderly manner using stairs.
The flight QR579 was scheduled from Delhi to Doha in which more than 100 passengers are on board.
However, the incident is ‘currently under investigation’ another flight is being arranged to take the passengers to Doha, said airline.
Reportedly, the flight took off from Delhi at 3:50 am and landed at Karachi at 5:30 am
Upon landing, Qatar Airways issued a statement saying, emergency was declared due to smoke signal in the cargo bay of plane.
Qatar Airways also apologized to the passengers for the inconvenience.
