Islamabad: The Supreme Court (SC) will resume the hearing into the suo motu case about dismissal of no-confidence motion in the National Assembly on Thursday (today).

A five member larger bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial will be hearing the case.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Counsel Babar Awan has submitted his arguments.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court resumed hearing on the dismissal of a no-confidence vote against embattled Prime Minister Imran Khan and the dissolution of Parliament by the President on his advice.

Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail asked, “Can the President ask the Prime Minister the reasons for dissolving the Assembly?”

To this, Ali Zafar, who is representing Pakistan President Arif Alvi, said, “The President is bound by the recommendation of the Prime Minister.

“It is not necessary to state the reasons for recommending the dissolution of the Assembly,” he added.

Today, the apex court is expected to hear the arguments of Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan and Naeem Bukhari — the counsel for NA Speaker Asad Qaiser.
