Police takes over Punjab Assembly’s control ahead of key PA session

Lahore: The Lahore police took over the control of the Punjab Assembly Sunday, hours before the start of a key session, GNN reported.

According to details, Police also arrested Director-General Parliamentary Affairs Rai Mumtaz while raiding the houses of Punjab Assembly officers.

The Punjab Assembly spokesman alleged that the police climbed over the walls and entered the house of the officers.

Punjab Assembly spokesperson claimed the police also raided the houses of Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and Secretary Coordination Inayatullah Lak but failed to arrest them.

It is pertinent to mention that a session of the Punjab Assembly was scheduled to be held on May 22 (today).

The extraordinary session of the Punjab Assembly had been convened today (Sunday) at 12:30 pm.

It is important to note that the date of the Punjab Assembly session had been changed. Firstly, it was scheduled to be called on May 30, which had now been altered for Sunday (today).

Punjab Assembly Speaker and PML-Q senior leader Pervaiz Elahi changed the date of the session following rules.
