Responsibility rests with world's parliaments for sustainable development: President
He said the parliament is the ultimate forum to address the problems faced by the people.
Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi has said special responsibility rests with the parliaments of the world for sustainable development and fundamental human rights.
In his message on International Day of Parliamentarism being observed on Thursday, he said the parliament of Pakistan is playing its role for sustainable future building on the basis of equality and ensuring public participation in decision making.
He said the parliament is the ultimate forum to address the problems faced by the people.
The President said the parliament should miss no opportunity to ensure the welfare of all segments of society, durable development and collective future of the country.
The President said Pakistan's constitution guarantees minorities to practice their religion.
Arif Alvi reaffirmed Pakistan's determination for promotion of a parliamentary system which is strong, empowered and fully representative of the public.
