Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan will announce its verdict pertaining to the foreign funding of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday (today) at 10 am.
The Commission had reserved its judgment on June 21.
A three-member bench of the Commission, headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, is hearing the matter.
The case was filed in 2014 by PTI’s founding member Akbar S Babar.
It is pertinent to mention here that Article 6(3) of the Political Parties Act 2002 is very relevant in the case. The provisions say: "any contribution made, directly or indirectly, by any foreign government, multi-national or domestically incorporated public or private company, firm, trade or professional association shall be prohibited and the parties may accept contributions and donations only from individuals".
