Sherry appeals world to come forward in providing assistance Pakistan’s flood affectees

Islamabad: Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman has appealed the world community to come forward in providing generous assistance to the flood-affected people of Pakistan.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Thursday, she said around thirty million people have been directly affected by floods. She said Pakistan has received unprecedented rainfall during this monsoon. She said overall the country received 241 percent more rains this month.
Sharing data of all provinces, the Minister said Balochistan received 496 percent additional rains, Sindh 784 percent, Punjab 56 percent, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33 percent and Gilgit Baltistan witnessed 172 percent more downpour. She said over nine hundred people have died in incidents related to rains and floods across the country.
She said this data is alarming and this flood situation is further deteriorating with every passing day. She said Pakistan is facing intermittent spells of torrential rains.
