PPP’s finance minister Shaukat Tareen likely to become advisor in PTI’s government
Islamabad: Former finance minister Shaukat Tareen and PPP’s finance minister likely to be made Prime Minister Imran Khan's advisor on finance and revenue noting that he has served as the finance minister in the past as well, sources informed GNN.
According to the sources, Mr Tareen would likely be appointed as a special assistant to the premier or his finance mentor.
However, the final decision would be made by Imran Khan himself, the sources added.
Earlier, in a cabinet reshuffle, Hammad Azhar was appointed as Federal Finance Minister
The sources noted it was recommended to have Tareen contest the Senate election as well.
It should be noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan removed Hafeez Sheikh from the post of Finance Minister and replaced Hamad Azhar as the new Finance Minister.
While Hamad Azhar already has the Ministry of Industry and Production.
Hafeez Sheikh was removed from the post of Finance Minister due to inflation.
In this regard, Shibli Faraz said that due to inflation, Prime Minister Imran Khan was not satisfied and worried, while Hamad Azhar will move forward according to Prime Minister Imran Khan's vision.
Consultations are underway to divide the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting into two parts, with two separate ministers of state likely to be brought in.
