“If SBP operates at IMF’s behest, it will be an attack on national sovereignty”
Jacobabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has announced to challenge the government’s bounced ordinance related to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) in court.
PPP co-chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while talking to the media in Jacobabad said that the government is handing over its institutions to non-state actors. If the central bank operates at the behest of the IMF, it will be a direct attack on national sovereignty.

Bilawal Bhutto while talking to the media said that the present government is the real cause of the economic crisis. There is historic unemployment due to the "PTIMF" deal. In the last three years, two finance ministers have changed, but the policy is the same.
He accused the government of handing over the country to the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He said his party wishes to challenge this ordinance. "We will not only challenge this in the parliament, but we believe it to be so illegal, we will approach the court."
He said that rigging took place in the 2018 elections all over the country which is still going on today. Attempts were made to elect an ‘own’ representative.
PPP Chairman called on the Election Commission of Pakistan to play its role as a free, independent institution to ensure that elections all across Pakistan, not just in Punjab are held fairly.
"If this is ensured, I am confident our Jacobabad candidate contesting for the National Assembly seat will be declared a winner the next day," he said,
Bilawal Bhutto said that NAB and other institutions were being used against the opposition. The PPP has had the same stance on NAB but other parties change their policy on NAB depending on the situation.
“NAB and economy cannot go hand in hand,” he added.
Expressing concern over the rising cases of coronavirus in Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto said that Pakistan is lagging behind all other countries in the region in terms of vaccination but the government is not yet ready to purchase corona vaccine whereas “Imran Khan is not ready to take responsibility for anything,”
Talking about the political situation in the country, he said that he did not want to benefit the government from the confrontation of the opposition. The opposition together defeated the government on many fronts while in recent elections the government had lost their own constituency.
