“Female artists limited only to bold-characters in Pakistani films,” Mehwish Hayat regrets
The actor, who is a presidential award winner, doesn’t consider herself as a big feminist, saying that she has grown up with her brothers and spent her childhood as a tomboy.


Karachi: Film star Mehwish Hayat said that the women were assigned weak roles and were limited only to the bold characters in the local films.
“The women make their place through beauty esthetics otherwise they are given meaningless roles in the local films,” said the Load Wedding actor during an interview to a local news organization on Wednesday.
The actor, who is a presidential award winner, did not consider herself as a big feminist, saying that she grew up with her brothers and spent her childhood as a tomboy.
She strongly believed that showbiz personalities should not share their personal things on the social media, saying that she had been trying not to share everything about her personal life on the digital platforms.
Mehwish also explained that showbiz personalities are followed by many people and their words have serious impacts on them, so artists should be careful on social media.
In response to a question, Mehwish Hayat said that her and Fawad Khan's couple in Miss Marvel was so much appreciated, first time both actors had worked together on screen, on previous local project they Didn't work together either.
While distinguishing between Lollywood and Hollywood, Mehwish Hayat accepted that in Hollywood everyone is professional and everything is done on time, on the other hand, in Pakistan, the shooting usually begins two hours late from the scheduled time.
The actress claimed that Pakistani actors are professional and hard workers, but still shooting here is common for two hours delay but not in Hollywood, she further told that she enjoyed working there and wished she could work in Hollywood.
She differentiated the role of women in Hollywood and Pakistani films and explained the role of Hollywood actresses as the meaningful and powerful roles while she considered the roles of Pakistani heroines as nominal and necessary.
According to artist, Pakistani heroines are given meaningless and weak roles in movies but they are shown in glamorous and bold roles.
Without giving an example of Pakistani film Mehwish Hayat said that Pakistani heroines are working in films for aesthetic beauty, their roles are not strong and important.
