Taking to twitter, the head of National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) wrote that that critical care patients in the country are now above 4500, which is 30% higher than the peak in June last year.

Warning that the hospitals are dealing with the influx of patients, he said that the country is making a huge mistake by not following the safety protocols.

"Hospital fill up continuing to grow. Critical care patients now above 4500, which is 30% higher than the peak in June last year. Oxygen supply capacity in the country is now under stress. Sop compliance remains low. We are making a huge mistake by not following sop's," Asad Umar shared on twitter.

Pakistan is presently experiencing the third wave of coronavirus which is said to be deadlier and more contagious than previous two waves.

According to National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), around 5,152 cases of coronavirus were reported while 73 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 16,316.

The total number of confirmed cases reached to 761,437.

As many as 662,845 patients have recovered from the disease with 4,515 critical cases.
