Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur calls bus harassment videos as false accusations against the institution.


Bahawalpur: Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur, Engineer Professor Dr. Athar Mahboob, has asserted that false and baseless propaganda
He stated that those videos have tarnished the reputation of the university and its female students at the national and international levels.
During an important press conference on his last day of service at the university, Dr. Athar Mahboob refuted the news and reports that spread unfounded and false propaganda against the institution.
He stated that he has always presented himself for accountability on any platform, and if there were any legitimate complaints, the university would also trust the process of inquiry.
The university is committed to taking strict action against any individuals found involved in misconduct.
He raised allegations against the police, claiming that there were attempts to extort money from some students and staff members.
Dr. Athar Mahboob said that the university has started two trials against those responsible and they will present evidence to higher authorities.
He also stated that two employees of the university were involved in a honeytrap scam.
Further, he stated that the university has undertaken projects worth billions of rupees, but some individuals are unhappy with its progress.
In another incident, a video emerged showing the helper of a bus at Bahawalpur Islamia University behaving inappropriately with a female student inside the moving bus.
It should be noted that three individuals have been arrested in the case, including the university's security officer, Ajaz Shah, transport in-charge Muhammad Altaf, and Abu Bakr.
All three are currently on judicial remand, and their bail applications have been submitted.
