CAA employees protest against outsourcing of major airports
According to the officer association, outsourcing airports poses a threat to defense and national security.
Lahore: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) employees on Tuesday staged protest against outsourcing of Pakistan’s three major airports.
Details indicate that staff of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spoke out against outsourcing the airports. The union and officer association of the CAA organized a protest in this regard at Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport.
Union members and officers knotted black bands to express their opposition to outsourcing at Allama Iqbal International Airport. The staff members declared that they will never, ever permit the outsourcing of airports.
According to the officer association, outsourcing airports poses a threat to defense and national security.
The plan by the federal government to contract out the management of three significant airports has sparked vehement opposition from CAA personnel.
Minister for Railways and Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Model Town Lahore on Sunday.
Saad informed the prime minister of outsourcing efforts and changes made to Pakistan Intentional Airlines (PIA) in order to improve services at airports.
They also talked about issues pertaining to the relevant ministry and the nation's general political situation throughout the discussion.
The minister also gave the prime minister an update on the National Aviation Policy restructuring and the continued partnership between China and Pakistan on the ML-1 project.
