The text of the bill stated that fine for driving without lights has been increased from Rs300 to Rs500.


Karachi: Sindh Assembly passed the Motor Vehicle Amendment Bill by consensus which proposed to increase the fines for violations of 52 traffic rules.
According to the newly approved amendment bill, a fine of Rs2,000 will be imposed on a motorcyclist and a fine of Rs3,000 on car for a wrong way.
The text of the bill stated that fine for driving without lights has been increased from Rs300 to Rs500.
Under the new amendments proposed in the Motor Vehicle Bill, over speeding will be fined Rs400 for motorcycles, Rs1,000 for cars and Rs1,500 for large vehicles.
In the amendment bill, it has been proposed to increase the fine from Rs600 to Rs2,000 for carrying more passengers than the prescribed limit, while for signal violation, a fine of Rs400 rupees should be imposed on a motorcycle and Rs500 on a car.
Rs1000 will be charged for overloading, whileRs400 for overtaking as per the text of the proposed bill.
The bill further proposed that fine for not giving way to emergency vehicles will be increased from Rs150 to Rs1,000.
While a person driving without a license will be fined Rs1,000, and driving a motorcycle without insurance coverage will be fined Rs500.
Under the proposed amendments in the Motor Vehicle Bill, a fine of Rs500 will be levied for traveling on seats reserved for special persons in buses, while a fine of Rs1,500 will be imposed for putting up advertising material on the bus platform, wall chalking and entering wrongly.
According to the text of bill, a passenger who does not provide identification, information on demand will be fined Rs1,000.
Snuff intake, eating paan and smoking cigarettes in BRT buses and at stations will be a punishable offence, with a fine of Rs500 on the violator.
The bill told that a fine of Rs500 will be imposed for traveling without fare, making noise or playing music on BRT buses and stations, while placing feet on the seat of a BRT bus will also attract a fine of Rs500.
