Polio virus found in Peshawar's environmental samples

Peshawar: After the confirmation of poliovirus in environmental samples from Peshawar, the tally of positive environmental samples across the nation has risen to 15.
According to Health Secretary Iftikhar Ali Shalwani, the virus is genetically linked to the polio virus present in Afghanistan.
Iftikhar Ali Shalwani emphasized that Pakistan's polio program is actively engaged in curbing polio transmission across the country.
He urged parents to administer polio drops to their children during every campaign.
He stated that wherever the virus is present, practical strategies are devised. Parents' active participation in polio vaccination campaigns is crucial.
Iftikhar Ali Shalwani further expressed that safeguarding children from permanent disability is not just a moral duty, but a religious obligation as well.
He highlighted the pivotal role of social and mainstream media in the eradication of polio.
