Lady Reading Hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa faces an extreme shortage of medical supplies as salaries await payment.

Peshawar: Lady Reading Hospital, the largest government hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is grappling with a critical shortage of essential medicines and medical supplies.
The scarcity includes items like gloves, cannulas, gel tubes, and syringes, which are also unavailable in the nursery and labor room.
To compound the situation, the nurses working in the nursery and labor room have been frequently facing staff shortages, affecting the hospital's ability to provide comprehensive care.
Hospital sources revealed that staff salaries for the month of September have yet to be disbursed, pending government funding.
In response to complaints from the nursery and labor room staff, the medical director has escalated the matter to the hospital doctor.
Lady Reading Hospital spokesperson, Muhammad Asim, cited financial constraints and a lack of available funds as the reasons behind the medication shortages.
He did confirm that salary funds had been released and that all employees would receive their payments by the following day.
Nevertheless, the hospital's financial challenges continue to impact its ability to maintain essential services.
