California: The European Union has begun exerting pressure on META, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, urging them to take action following the devastating Hamas attack on Israel.

In response to the dissemination of false information regarding the attack on social media platforms, the founders of Facebook and Instagram have been given a 24-hour ultimatum to respond in compliance with the law.

As reported by the British news agency BBC, the European Union has expressed concern over the spread of misleading content, including a multitude of photos and videos related to the Hamas attack on Israel.

A spokesperson from META revealed in an interview with the BBC that they have promptly established a specialized operations center, staffed with individuals proficient in both Hebrew and Arabic.

This center has been set up to efficiently address the rapidly evolving situation.

"Our teams are operating around the clock to secure our platforms by identifying and handling content that violates our policies or local laws, while also working diligently to curtail the dissemination of misinformation," the spokesperson stated.

Additionally, the European Union has intensified its efforts by putting pressure on another social media platform, marked as 'X' in the report.

Consequently, all accounts linked to Hamas have been terminated, aligning with the pursuit of controlling the narrative surrounding the Israeli disaster and the ongoing situation.
