Trial in military courts, elections in 90 days cases fixed for hearing
Justice Qazi Faez said that elections and trial cases of civilians in military courts are to be scheduled.
Islamabad: Trial of civilians in military courts and cases related to general elections have been fixed for hearing in the Supreme Court.
According to details, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa, during the hearing of the Pak-Arab Refinery employees’ case on Thursday, had indicated that the cases related to general elections and military courts would be scheduled for hearing.
On the adjournment of the Pak-Arab Refinery employees’ case, Justice Qazi Faez said that elections and trial cases of civilians in military courts are to be scheduled.
The Supreme Court Friday fixed the case against the trial of civilians in military courts for hearing on October 23, which will be heard by a five-member bench headed by Justice Ijaz-ul-Hassan, comprising Justice Muneeb Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi, Justice Mazhar Naqvi and Justice Ayesha Malik.
The Supreme Court has issued notices to the parties regarding the hearing. It is pertinent to note that the previous hearing of the said case was held on August 03.
On the other hand, petitions related to holding general elections in 90 days have also been fixed for hearing on October 23.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa comprising Justice Athar Minullah and Justice Aminuddin Khan will hear the case.
The Supreme Court Bar and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) and others have filed petitions in the Supreme Court regarding the holding of general elections in 90 days.
