LHC issues notices to parties on appeal to implement Articles 62, 63
The Supreme Court issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Federal and Provincial Governments.
Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday issued notices to the parties on various petitions for implementation of Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.
According to the details, Justice Shahid Karim of LHC heard the petition of citizen Munir Ahmed where lawyer Azhar Siddique appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner.
The Supreme Court issued notices to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Federal and Provincial Governments.
It has been argued by the petitioner that the general elections in the country are going to be held on February 08, the Election Commission has not prepared the lists of convicts, bank defaulters, tax evaders and contempt of court as yet.
The petition further stated that all the data of the candidate who is contesting for the general elections should be available on the Election Commission website. Letters were written to the Election Commission in this regard, however there was response.
It has also been requested in the LHC to direct the Election Commission to compile the data of election candidates and publish it on the website.
The court adjourned the hearing by issuing notices to the Election Commission, federal and provincial governments.
