Earthquake of 3.2 magnitude hits Islamabad, surrounding areas

Islamabad: Islamabad and its neighboring areas experienced a 3.2 magnitude earthquake, with tremors felt in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, and other locations.

The seismic activity's epicenter was identified as Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan, with its origin located 25 kilometers deep. This follows a recent earthquake on December 18, where the federal capital and surrounding areas were shaken by a magnitude 5.8 quake, as confirmed by the seismological center.

The earlier quake had originated 140 kilometers deep, centered in the Doda district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), leading to widespread panic among residents. The tremors also reached regions like Samahni and Bhimbhar in Azad Jammu and Peshawar.

Fortunately, no immediate casualties or damages were reported in the aftermath of the December 18 earthquake.
