46th death anniversary of Urdu poet Ibn-e-Insha
He passed away on January 11, 1978 and laid to rest in peace in Karachi.


Karachi: The day (Thursday) marks the 46th death anniversary of the distinguished Urdu poet, humorist, and travelogue writer Ibne Insha.
He was born as Sher Muhammad Khan in the Jalandhar district of Indian Punjab in 1927 and later migrated to Pakistan. His contributions were honored with the Pride of Performance Award in 1978.
Sher Muhammad was known for simple yet profound poetry. His popularity soared due to his humor-laden verses and columns. Insha’s masterpieces, valued by admirers, include the timeless ghazal 'Insha Ji Uttho,' solidifying his status as a modern-day classic. Renowned not only for his poetry but also celebrated as one of Urdu's finest humorists.
Ibne Insha left an indelible mark with poetic gems like Dil-e-Wehshi and Chand Nagar. His insightful travelogues include Chaltay Ho To Cheen Ko Chaliye, Nagri Nagri Phira Musafir, Awara Gard Ki Diary, Dunya Gol Hai and Ibn-e-Batoota Kay Taqub Main.
Among his humorous works, Ibne Insha crafted laughter with Khumar-e-Gandum and Urdu Ki Aakhri Kitaab. Delving into his correspondence, his collection of letters is aptly titled Khat Insha Jee Kay.
