55 killed in Ethiopian landslide
Many people who reached the accident site for help were buried in the second landslide
Addis Ababa: At least 55 people have died in a landslide in the African country of Ethiopia, and officials fear an increase in the death toll.
According to the local authorities, the landslide occurred in the southern area of Gofa. 55 bodies have been removed after the landslide.
The authorities stated that a landslide occurred yesterday after heavy rains, after which people from the local population and police personnel reached the place of the landslide to help the trapped people, after which a second landslide occurred.
Many people who reached the accident site for help were buried in the second landslide, told the officials. 55 bodies have been removed so far and the death toll is expected to increase.
The relief activities are underway at the site of the landslide.
