Lahore again tops most polluted cities

Lahore: Lahore's air continues to be polluted and harmful to health, while it is the most polluted city in the world with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 517. The Indian city of Delhi is second.

The AQI of the Johar Town area of Lahore has reached 320, while the AQI of the Mall Road area has been recorded at 475, and the Askari X has reached 511.

On the other hand, the Department of Meteorology said that the minimum temperature of the city is 19 while the maximum temperature is likely to go up to 31 degrees Celsius. The humidity in the air has reached 81 percent and there are no chances of rain in the city yet.

The Punjab government has failed to control the average rate of rising smog, with medical experts issuing instructions to citizens to wear masks.

People have been instructed not to step out of their homes unnecessarily and must use face masks.

The situation of smog in Lahore is likely to deteriorate further, the Department of Environment has issued a red alert in this regard.

According to the Department of Environment, in the next 24 hours, the direction of Indian winds will be towards Pakistan and the speed of the wind entering Lahore and its surroundings will be 4-8km per hour.

It has been proposed to close schools, colleges, and universities on Fridays and Saturdays in the city of Lahore. Gulberg, Liberty, MM Alam Road, and Main Market are also being considered to be included in the green lockdown.
