Israel, Hezbollah initially agree to ceasefire
Ceasefire monitoring force will operate under the supervision of the US
Tel Aviv: Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to a preliminary ceasefire.
Israeli media have claimed that in the event of a ceasefire, Hezbollah will retreat north of the Litani River, while Israel will withdraw from southern Lebanon.
A ceasefire monitoring force will operate under the supervision of the United States, and negotiations will be held between Lebanon and Israel on border demarcation.
Analysts say that the current details of the agreement are in Israel's favor, and Israel will achieve two important goals of the ground operation in southern Lebanon.
According to analysts, the removal of Hezbollah from the border and the cessation of attacks on northern Israel will be considered an Israeli victory. Without goals and deadlines, border demarcation negotiations may remain inconclusive.
On the other hand, the European Union's top diplomat, Joseph Borrell, called for a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah during his visit to Lebanon.
