Bilawal reaffirms PPP's commitment to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's legacy

Garhi Khuda Bakhsh: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid tribute to the founder of the party, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, on the 46th anniversary of his death.

Addressing a rally in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Bilawal expressed his gratitude to the party workers for upholding Bhutto’s legacy and continuing the struggle for over four decades.

Bilawal Bhutto mentioned that former President Asif Ali Zardari had fulfilled another promise with Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. Previously, Zardari had ensured justice for Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto through a presidential reference.

The PPP chairman further stated that Asif Zardari had fulfilled the legacy of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto by taking leadership of the PPP, a responsibility he carried out successfully.

He emphasized that Asif Zardari is fulfilling his promise to eradicate poverty through the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).

Bilawal Bhutto also acknowledged that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto made a revolutionary decision when he broke tradition and made his daughter his political successor. “Today, we can proudly say that Bhutto was alive yesterday and remains alive today,” he added.

He praised Shaheed Benazir Bhutto's role in PPP’s history. Benazir Bhutto carried on the name and mission of her father. “She made everyone a Bhutto by saying ‘Bhutto, Bhutto’,” he said.

Bilawal Bhutto stressed that they gather to define their political goals and that they are proud of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s struggles and achievements. He pointed out that Bhutto gave the people the Constitution, the atomic bomb, democracy, and the rights of workers and farmers, helping the nation progress.

He further noted that President Asif Zardari restored the 1973 Constitution through the 18th Amendment, and he too takes pride in this achievement.

Bilawal Bhutto highlighted the improvements in Sindh’s healthcare system, noting that people from all four provinces come to Sindh for medical treatment. He also praised the historic People’s Housing Program, which, like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s land reforms, provides ownership of homes and land to 2 million families today.

He claimed that this is the largest housing project in Pakistan, and even in the world, which the PPP is executing after Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s legacy.

Bilawal Bhutto emphasized that their approach to politics is one of service, not of spreading hatred or division. He mentioned the global effort to raise awareness about climate change, stressing that the loss caused by it is not their fault, but rather the fault of those responsible worldwide.

He thanked the international community and the federal government for their support in making the housing project successful.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that he fought internationally for Pakistan’s water rights, especially for the preservation of the Indus River. As the former foreign minister, he successfully convinced the global community to support Pakistan in saving its rivers and providing technical assistance to protect them.

He mentioned that the Indus River was once called the “Mighty Indus,” and emphasized the need to save it. He thanked the world for agreeing to financially help Pakistan activate the Indus Basin and provide technical support in saving the river.

Bilawal Bhutto also criticized India for unilaterally making decisions and exploiting the region's water resources. He said that he confronted India on this matter and fought for the rights of coastal regions.

He mentioned that constitutional amendments were also made to include environmental issues, which were previously not part of Pakistan's constitution, and he credited the PPP for this achievement.

The PPP chairman further emphasized the need for an inclusive constitutional court, where all provinces would have equal representation. He claimed that it was the PPP’s victory that all provinces would now be equally represented.

Bilawal Bhutto stated that the party has a duty to address the current issues facing Pakistan, acknowledging that the country is facing a historic crisis. He reaffirmed PPP's commitment to positive politics, stressing that this is the way to represent the people.

He mentioned that Pakistan is grappling with multiple issues, including economic crises, rising terrorism, and international conspiracies aimed at destabilizing the country. He noted that internal politics have reached a point where society is being harmed, and that the politics of hatred and division are damaging future generations.

He asked, "Should we continue with politics of hatred and division, or should we adopt politics of hope and unity?" He confirmed that PPP will choose the latter and continue with positive politics.

Bilawal Bhutto also reiterated that the PPP has always raised its voice against terrorism, with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto being the biggest voice against it. He reminded the audience of the enormous sacrifices the PPP has made, noting that the second wave of terrorism, which is now affecting regions from Balochistan to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was a result of international conspiracies and mistakes made within the country.

The PPP chairman concluded by saying that the solution lies in addressing deprivation, removing backwardness, implementing provincial autonomy, and strengthening democracy to win the ideological battle.

He stressed that the PPP will confront the forces responsible for terrorizing the people, as international conspiracies continue to exploit Pakistan's people for their own political gain. He cited examples of the recent suicide bombings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and shootings in Balochistan as evidence of the violence faced by ordinary people.
