Malala, Fawad discuss women's rights in Afghanistan as Taliban take over
Islamabad: Nobel Peace laureate Malala Yousafzai has discussed women’s rights in Afghanistan in a telephonic conversation with Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry.
According to details, the Human Rights Campaigner expressed concern over the sitiuation in Afghanistan as Taliban take over Kabul and said that Pakistan should play its role in women's education in Afghanistan.
Malala said that she also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan urging Pakistan to play its role.
The information minister assured the 24-year old Nobel Peace laureate that Pakistan will continue to extend support towards promoting education in Afghanistan.
“There are 6,000 Afghan students in Pakistan and Pakistan is providing educational facilities to the children of Afghan refugees”, he informed Malala.
On Sunday, Malala tweeted, “We watch in complete shock as Taliban takes control of Afghanistan. I am deeply worried about women, minorities and human rights advocates.”
She urged global, regional and local powers for an immediate ceasefire and to provide urgent humanitarian aid and protect refugees and civilians.
