Pakistan doesn’t want civil war in Afghanistan, says FM as Taliban retakes Kabul
Islamabad: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Pakistan doesn’t want civil war or unrest in neighboring Afghanistan at any cost.
He made the statement while briefing media post holding a meeting with Afghan delegation where both sides deliberated over the situation in Afghanistan as Taliban takes over Kabul.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that a comprehensive dialogue is the only way to a peaceful resolution of Afghan conflict.
“We got a chance to present Pakistan’s stance in meeting with Afghan delegation. I am hopeful that we will lead the process of peace together. We want people of Afghanistan to progress and it important for Afghan leadership to take advantage of this historic moment,” he said adding that Pakistan’s position is very clear when it comes to Afghanistan.
FM further stated that so far 380 foreign diplomats have reached Pakistan.
“Pakistan is trying to send more flights to Kabul in a bit to evacuate people. The staff of Demark’s embassy staff has also reached Pakistan and a contact with Danish foreign minister has also been established in this regard,” he said.
Shah Mehmood further said that regional stability is crucial and everyone has to keep a strong eye on anti-peace elements.
A delegation of Afghan political leadership arrived in Islamabad on Sunday amid the changing situation of the neighboring country as Ashraf Ghani resigned as the Afghan president and Taliban takes over Kabul.
