Babar Awan says casted vote can be rechecked in case of suspicion about horse-trading


Islamabad: The government has taken an important decision to stop the alleged buying and selling of votes in the Senate election.
According to details garnered, the government has decided to make important legislation to end vote buying and selling in the Senate.
While talking to the journalists, PM’s Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan said that an important meeting of the federal cabinet will be held tomorrow. He mentioned that the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs will brief regarding the legislation on horse-trading. “The president had sought the opinion of the Supreme Court (SC) through a reference,” he added.
He said that the Supreme Court had given its opinion on this matter and issued an order that open balloting option can be availed during the Senate election. “Casted vote can be re-checked in the case of suspicion about horse-trading. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) are in contact with each other. The government is legislation on this matter with consultations of the ECP.”
