Covid figures have risen to record levels yet again – 1,572 new daily cases – while there’s been another rise in the number of patients admitted to hospital

Pakistan reports spike in COVID-19 infections in last 24 hours

Islamabad: Pakistan reported 1,572 new coronavirus infections, a new daily record, with authorities linking the spike with the Omicron variant of virus.  

Covid figures have risen to record levels yet again – 1,572 new daily cases – while there’s been another rise in the number of patients admitted to hospital.  

According to the latest figures issued by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 1,572 persons were tested positive while 7 died in the past 24 hours— taking Pakistan's COVID death toll to 28,969.   

The total number of cases has reached 1,304,058.     

As many as 1,258,657 patients have recovered from the disease.

Punjab

The number of patients swelled to 447,530 in the province with 13,079 causalities.

Sindh

The number of infections has surged to 486,740 in the province, while the death toll has reached 7,681.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The confirmed cases have surged to 181,715 in the province with 5,942 casualties.

Balochistan

There are 33,658 confirmed cases while 367 patients have died from the infection so far.

AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan

There are 34,702 coronavirus cases in the AJK while the death toll has reached 747. On the other hand, there are 10,430 cases in GB with 186 coronavirus deaths.

Islamabad

There are 109,283 cases in the capital city while 967 people have lost their lives.
