Electricity price likely to hike across Pakistan

Islamabad: Due to the adjustment in the first quarter of financial year, electricity is likely to be expensive across the country, including Karachi.
According to details, discos have appealed to transfer additional burden of Rs22.56 billion to consumers.

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a revision notice for the first quarter adjustment of the current financial year, according to which the July-September adjustment tariff will be kept uniform as per the government guidelines.
According to NEPRA, an appeal has been filed for the quarterly adjustment of July to September 2023. It will hear the first quarter adjustment application on November 14.
The companies have sought permission to collect Rs12.126 billion in the capacity charges, while a request has been made to collect Rs10.247 billion under use of system charges.
It has also been requested to receive Rs4.680 billion for operation and maintenance and Rs6.670 billion for damages.
