Brasília: Brazil's Covid-19 death toll now stands at 300,685, with a total of 12.2 million infections.

As per details, the country has the second highest death toll in the world, behind the US, with a total of 268,370 fatalities.
The new wave of novel coronavirus has pushed many hospitals to breaking point, with intensive care beds and oxygen supplies at critically low levels.
Earlier in March, Brazil recorded 79,876 new cases, the third highest number in a single day, following which the Health experts gave warning that the transmission rate is worse by more contagious variants.
The surge in cases has put health systems in most of Brazil’s largest cities under immense pressure, with many close to collapse.
Meanwhile, Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro, who tested positive for Covid last July said that he is planning to launch a crisis committee to deal with the pandemic.
Mr Bolsonaro at the presidential palace said, “The prevailing sentiment was solidarity and the commitment to minimize the effects of the pandemic”.
“Life comes first,” he added.
