Cambodia casino fire: 10-dead in blaze on Thai border
Reportedly, almost 400 people were in the building when it caught the fire.
Phnom Penh: In an unfortunate incident, at least 10 people have been killed as the fire broke out at a Cambodian hotel-casino on the border with Thailand, police say.
The fire raged out at around 23:30 (16:30 GMT) on Wednesday at the Grand Diamond City hotel-casino in the border town of Poipet.
Reportedly, almost 400 people were in the building when it caught the fire.
Video making rounds on social media shows that people are jumping from the upper floors of the building to save themselves from fire.
Local media reports show that many Thai nationals were also present at the hotel.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained as the authorities are working to determine the cause.
Thai foreign ministry official told media that some of the injured were shifted to hospitals in Thailand's Sa Kaeo province.
Poipet is a key crossing point between Combodia and Thailand which is also hub for casino. Many Thai nationals visit the country as gambling is mostly banned in Thailand.
