Shan Gul informed the authorities that due to unavoidable domestic commitments, effective from June 27, 2023, he would be unable to continue performing his duties.

Lahore: Punjab's Advocate General Muhammad Shan Gul tendered his resignation on Saturday, citing his inability to fulfill the duties of his office due to pressing domestic commitments that could no longer be postponed.
In his resignation letter addressed to Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman and Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Gul explained the circumstances leading to his decision.
He mentioned that after not being confirmed as a permanent judge of the Lahore High Court, he was approached by Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman, and Additional Chief Secretary Ahmed Raza Sarwar regarding the availability of his services as the advocate general.
At the time of accepting the position, Gul was informed that it was a short-term appointment.
Gul expressed his disappointment upon assuming the office, finding numerous pending matters, including long-overdue opinions requested by various departments and Order XXVII-A notices. However, he highlighted his satisfaction with resolving all outstanding issues during his tenure.
The AGP informed the authorities that due to unavoidable domestic commitments, effective from June 27, 2023, he would be unable to continue performing his duties. He requested the acceptance of his resignation from the post of advocate general Punjab.
Gul expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the office and the province, acknowledging it as an honor and privilege. He extended his appreciation to Governor Rehman, Chief Minister Naqvi, and the province for their support and kindness.
