ACC President defends Asia Cup decision, citing security concerns in Pakistan
We can't compare the T20 series played in Dubai with the ODI of 100 overs: Jay Shah.
Lahore: Jay Shah, the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), has defended the decision not to change the venue of the Asia Cup 2023 from Pakistan and to allow the entire tournament to be held in the country.
According to Indian media, the ACC President once again presented a new logic on the matter of holding the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka instead of Dubai and not allowing the entire tournament to be held in Pakistan.
He attributed the decision to security concerns and the economic situation of the nation.
The controversy arose as some members, media broadcasters, and stadium rights holders expressed hesitation about playing the entire tournament in Pakistan.
Jay Shah clarified that these concerns were primarily rooted in security issues and the economic conditions of the country.
He further elaborated that as the ACC President, it was his responsibility to find an appropriate solution, and the consensus reached in collaboration with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the hybrid model, which includes high-security measures, was the best course of action to ensure the safety of all stakeholders involved.
