ECP, political parties to discuss draft code of conduct for elections tomorrow
In anticipation of the upcoming meeting, the ECP has provided political parties with an initial draft of the code of conduct.

Islamabad: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is scheduled to convene a meeting with various political parties at its secretariat on Wednesday to discuss the draft code of conduct for the forthcoming general elections.
An ECP official reported that an initial consultative session had already been held between the Election Commission and political parties to deliberate on various election-related matters.
In anticipation of the upcoming meeting, the ECP has provided political parties with an initial draft of the code of conduct. This draft is expected to serve as a crucial element in the final preparations for the upcoming general elections.
The preliminary code of conduct has already been shared with political parties by the ECP and is poised to play a vital role in shaping the final arrangements for the upcoming elections.
The draft code of conduct emphasizes the significance of political parties, candidates, and election agents in upholding the rights and freedoms of Pakistan's citizens, as enshrined in the Constitution and the law.
Moreover, it cautions against actions or statements that may jeopardize Pakistan's ideology, sovereignty, integrity, security, or the independence of its judiciary.
In addition, the draft code imposes restrictions on public officeholders, including the president and prime minister, preventing them from participating in election campaigns in any capacity.
According to an ECP official, copies of the draft Code of Conduct have been sent to the leaders of political parties to solicit their input during the consultation process.
