Uncle Sargam no more; Farooq Qaiser passes away
Islamabad: Farooq Qaiser, the legendary puppeteer, artist, writer best known for his creation Uncle Sargam, passed away in Islamabad on Friday.

His death was confirmed by his grandson Muhammad. Farooq Qaiser was 75.
Qaiser introduced Uncle Sargam in 1976, in Kaliyan, leading to a decades long career with his other creations Masee Museebtay, Rola and Haiga.
In his long and storied career, Qaiser received multiple awards, including the Pride of Performance and Sitara-e-Imtiaz. He did not limit himself to puppeteering, but also directed TV shows, wrote columns and was a voiceover artist.
